Day 1. Flight to Istanbul (yup, to Turkey) for 3 hours, and another 3 hours stuck in the airport enjoying a not very nice turkish coffee. I was concerned it was going to be a long wait, but going through security took a long time. They had a lot of problems finding my ESTA application and I had to turn on my roaming. Great.
After another 12 hours flying, we got Chicago where a driver was waiting to drop us off at home, finally, around 22h. It was a 28-hours-trip.
I have to say I was afraid of Turkish Airlines, but they scored points with us after a few amazing meals and good manners. Glad I got the next flight with them.
There was a party right next to home but I couldn’t even open my eyes so everything I did that day was going to sleep. The next days were much better, stay tuned!
